Brejo Largo, Alentejo, Portugal by Paulo Bizarro

I took this photo in Brejo Largo beach, Alentejo coast of Portugal. This is a somewhat secluded beach, as it is best reached on foot. It was the day after Christmas. Winter time is a perfect time to photograph, as the Summer crowds are gone, and the light can be quite dramatic. I spent the afternoon shooting several compositions, both with wide angle and telephoto lens. Of the set, this was my favourite, as the brooding clouds part for a short while, allowing the sun's rays to breach the cover. I had my tripod settled in the soft sand, and had to keep an eye on the incoming waves.
