During my holidays in Scotland I visited the visitor centre at Culloden battlefield, not leaving the museum without a booklet of the Jacobite story. Not many days later I passed Glen Shiel and remembered seeing a painting in the booklet depicting the battle of Glenshiel (10 June 1719). I parked my car along the road and found myself near the Eas-Nan-Arm bridge and climbing the small hill I saw almost exactly what the painting showed. So, waiting for the sun to light the distant hill, I imagined myself 299 years back in time and just enjoying the view (getting my feet wet ...). The painting can be found on the internet. Just google "battle of Glenshiel by Peter Tillemans".
