As the day brightened, the sea grew and grew before my eyes. The waves were roaring with magnificent splendour, their white manes streaming high as they surged towards land. I was completely captivated and thrilled to be there, in spite of the cold. How could I think straight about composition, depth of field and all those things when I was in the thrall? I did my best to think, and could not have had a better start to my birthday! So good to be alive.

|Additional Notes||I started with a tripod but found I needed more flexibility than I could muster with it. I abandoned the tripod and instead would settle on a set of waves and follow them in until the shot looked right.|
