Hooded Merganser female feeding, St Jerome, Canada, by Luc Lemieux

My wife and I were walking along this pond in our Regional Park and checking out the wading birds, which is what observe regularly. To our surprise one of them was a diver; a female Hooded Merganser was feeding among the Mallards who did not seem to care. A pleasant surprise.
