A window of good weather in October can be rare in Washington's Cascades, but we had one last fall. I took advantage of it and made the 4-mile hike to Yellow Aster Butte for a quick overnight backpack in the Mt Baker Wilderness. I was rewarded with some beautiful fall color as the huckleberry bushes had turned a vibrant red. I captured this shot early in the morning as Mt Baker caught the first rays of sunlight. It was a beautiful night of camping in a gorgeous spot.
