I recently visited Lake Kerkini in Greece to photograph the spectacular Dalmation Pelicans. The previous 2 days were very dull and very grey, with virtually no light. On the 3rd morning i visited the lake again before the sun was up as i had a flight home in the afternoon. As the sun broke the horizon I managed to get this shot as the Pelican floated through a patch of light shining onto the lake. A couple of hours of shooting in great light then it was off to the airport for my flight home.
